Simmone Howell started off writing lovelorn poetry to pop stars. At university she founded a small press publishing collective called Vandal Press. She has written advertorials, manifestos, screenplays and non-fiction articles about her inability to master the banjo. Her realistic teen novels Notes from the Teenage Underground, Everything Beautiful and Girl Defective feature outsiders, rebels and pop culture icons.
Simmone lives in Melbourne and teaches YA writing at RMIT.
