Pan Macmillan is proud to support #AustraliaReads 📚
Yesterday, Australian Reading Hour announced that they will be updating to be known as Australia Reads in the hopes of encouraging more Aussies to read at home. In 2019, Australian Reading Hour reached more than 11 million Australians and was the most successful year to date. In 2020, they are launching Australia Reads, an initiative to boost reading at home for Australian families. Pan Macmillan is thrilled to support an initiative that’ll remind Australia what a joy it is to read.
Instead of the usual one-day event, in 2020 Australia Reads will be expanding to 17 days of bookish activities. The headline event will, of course, be the highly successful Australian Reading Hour on Thursday 17 September. Australian Reading Hour is the day Aussies stop what they are doing and pick up a book. Australia Reads is hopeful that the shift in focus will promote the incredible and diverse range of books that can be found in Australia. By supporting Australia Reads, you are supporting authors, books, publishers and bookstores.
‘We’d like to thank the libraries, booksellers, publishers and schools, for embracing the Australian Reading Hour in 2019, you are all key to our success. We are now pleased to invite you to register your interest to take part again and make 2020 our biggest year yet. Our aim is to get all Australians reading. And let’s get #AustraliaReadsAtHome trending right now; we need to promote the benefits of reading to those stuck at home and great stories are the best way to escape from isolation.” – Lousie Sherwin-Stark, Chair of the Australia Reads Committee.Â
