Andrew Pippos is an acclaimed Australian writer and academic, celebrated for storytelling that delves into themes of migration, identity, and family. His debut novel, Lucky's, published by Picador in 2020, garnered critical acclaim, winning the Readings Prize for New Australian Fiction and earning shortlist positions for both the Miles Franklin Literary Award and the Prime Minister's Literary Award for Fiction

Born in South Korea to a Greek father and an Irish mother, Pippos moved to Australia at the age of four. He spent much of his childhood immersed in his family's Greek-Australian café in Brewarrina, New South Wales-a formative experience that deeply influenced his writing. This backdrop serves as the foundation for Lucky's, a multigenerational saga exploring the rise and fall of a family-run café franchise, reflecting the complexities of cultural assimilation and the nuances of the Greek-Australian experience.

Before turning to fiction, Pippos worked as a journalist. He later pursued academic studies, earning a doctorate in Creative Writing from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where he now lectures in creative writing. His essays and short fiction have appeared in esteemed publications such as Meanjin, The Sydney Review of Books, Catapult, and Electric Literature. Pippos lives in Sydney's inner west.
