British-born Denys Peek grew up in Shanghai, China, and was a Volunteer in Singapore when war broke out in the Pacific. Taken prisoner, he began work on the Thai-Burma railway in late 1942 and was repatriated to England after the war ended. He currently lives in Como, Western Australia.
