Jane Messer began life in Melbourne, and has lived in London, San Francisco, Baltimore and Berlin. For most of her years, though, Sydney has been home. Sydney is where her kids were born and the pets buried.
Her critically acclaimed books include Night by Night, Provenance, Bedlam - anthology of sleepless nights, and Hopscotch. In between books she writes radio drama, short stories and essays, and blogs at janemesser.com about books and writing.
In her day job she teaches creative writing at Macquarie University, Sydney, where she is the Program Director of the Creative Writing programs. She is the founder and supervising editor of the student journal The Quarry, a former director of the Australian Society of Authors and judge of the Australian Vogel Literary Award.
