The winners of the 2019 Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) were announced at a beautiful ceremony on the evening of May 2, 2019 in Sydney.
We are very proud to have taken home four awards, including the prestigious accolade of Publisher of the Year 2019. We are so pleased to be able to publish all of our authors, but are especially happy today for Hetty McKinnon, winner of Illustrated Book of the Year for Family, Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton, author and illustrator of The 104-Storey Treehouse, winner of Book of the Year for Younger Children and Behrouz Boochani, winner of General Non-Fiction Book of the Year forNo Friend But The Mountains.
ABIA Winner – Illustrated Book of the Year
In Family, bestselling author Hetty McKinnon shares her approach to uncomplicated, hearty and healthy food that is powered by vegetables. These classic, multicultural dishes are the ones she serves around her own family table.

ABIA Winner – Book of the Year for Younger Children (Ages 7-12)
Join Andy and Terry in their wonderfully wild and wacky 104-storey treehouse. You can throw some refrigerators, make some money with the money-making machine (or honey if you’d prefer-it makes that too), climb the never-ending staircase, have a bunfight, deposit some burps in the burp bank, get totally tangled up in the tangled-up level, or just take some time out and relax in the peaceful sunny meadow full of buttercups, butterflies and bluebirds.

ABIA Winner – General Non-Fiction Book of the Year
In 2013, Kurdish journalist Behrouz Boochani was illegally detained on Manus Island. He has been there ever since. No Friend But the Mountains is the result. Laboriously tapped out on a mobile phone and translated from the Farsi. It is a voice of witness, an act of survival. A lyric first-hand account. A cry of resistance. A vivid portrait through five years of incarceration and exile.
