‘Where We Begin’ shortlisted for CBCA Book of the Year: Older Readers

The Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has announced its Book of the Year shortlist for 2021. We are excited to share that Where We Begin by Christie Nieman has been nominated for the Older Readers category. Where We Begin was also shortlisted for the NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award.

Seventeen-year-old Anna is running into the night. Fleeing her boyfriend, her mother, and everything she has known.

She is travelling into the country, to the land and the grandparents she has never met, looking for answers to questions that have never been asked.

For every family has secrets.

But some secrets – once laid bare – can never be forgiven.

Watch a video of the shortlist being announced or see the full list here. The winners for each category will be announced at noon AEST on Friday, 20 August 2021.
